The 8th Annual Marine Heritage Festival in Southampton’s Pioneer Park runs July 27th – 29th, 2018.
Friday, July 27th:
The weekend kicks off with the Festival Launch Party at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton. Starting at 6pm enjoy live entertainment by the Bobby Dean Blackburn Trio, a Marine Heritage Cash BBQ & Bar, Kids activities and entertainment and a Smudge & Blessing by Shirly John to officially open the Festival. Admission to this event is FREE.
Saturday, July 28th:
The highlight of Saturday’s festivities is the 7th Annual Cardboard Boat Race (10:30am); but there are plenty of activities for both kids and adults alike including a pancake breakfast (8am), BBQ Lunch (12-2pm), Beer Gardens (12 – dusk), Chi-Cheemaun Big Canoe Challenge (11am), Captain Wayne Sparrow’s Gold Hunt (1:30pm), live music by Feelin’ Good (4-8pm), and a Fish Fry Dinner (5-8pm).
The Southampton Bia Bike Val -eh, in collaboration with Martins Bicycle Shop, will be running Saturday at Pioneer Park from 9am – 7pm, so leave your cars at home a cycle down to the park for the day!
Sunday, July 29th:
Sunday wraps up the event with the 3rd Annual War on the Shore Bike Race. Register or watch an event that accommodates everyone from a UCI Professional to the recreational enthusiast by offering a variety of categories. First race (11am), kids race (3pm), Marine Heritage BBQ (11am – 2pm)
The Marine Heritage Festival weekend is also the last chance to participate in the 4th Annual Flag Quest scavenger hunt throughout Southampton. Players have until 4pm on Sunday, July 29th to decode the nautical flags to spell words then submit their Game Cards to win prizes.
Pick up a game card at any participating Southampton Business or at the Tourism Office. Winners will be announced on Monday, July 30th.
